The Wild Turkey Distillery in Lawrenceburg was originally known as the Ripy Distillery. It wasn't until 1940 that the distillery received its current name. This is due to a turkey hunt during which the manager of Austin Nichols carried various samples of his new Bourbon whiskey. The wild turkeys that were hunted and the Bourbon samples helped the distillery get its current name.
Wild Turkey 101 matured for an undefined period in fresh, heavily charred barrels made of American white oak (virgin oak). Bottled at a robust 50.5% vol. alcohol, without coloring.
Aroma: Vanilla, honey and caramel, spices and warm smoke
Taste: Spicy, toffee, caramel, smoke and pepper
