Founded in 1779, Bowmore is the oldest whiskey distillery on the Scottish Isle of Islay. Known for their smoky whiskeys, however, Bowmore is one of the milder representatives of the island with around 35 ppm smoke content in the malt. In addition to its bottlings, the distillery is known for Vault No.1 - the only warehouse in Scotland that lies below sea level.
